Pool House Project - What a fun project for the middle of winter - It was exciting to be thinking about summer fun while it was freezing outside!
The pool house was designed for the Smith family in Charleston, South Carolina. They wanted a pool house for extra entertaining space and a hang out area for their 2 children ages 8 and 11 years old. A dining space and a reading space was required, along with a possible area for playing games. The extra kick to this project was the fact that the pool house was to be designed from a shipping container!
The floor plan shows the layout of the pool house. The reading area, which was requested by the client, is located at the doors. To the left is an entertaining space where guests can socialize and game playing can commence. To the right of the doors is the dining area. The table can accomodate up to six people for entertaining purposes.
The presentation board shows the furniture and fixtures that were used to create the design. Selecting the furniture and fixtures was exceptionally fun. There was no budget for this project!! Wouldnt that be a dream come true for most people?!
One of the favorite pieces was the Anjuna Outdoor beds on the flagstone patio. The beds are constructed of epoxy coated aluminum. This is perfect for outdoor wear and tear. The cushions and pillows are covered in a bold orange outdoor fabric that is uv and moisture resistant. What a perfectly comfortable spot for mom to watch the kids playing in the pool or for the kids to nap in after a swim! They are located in a shady spot under the wooden pergula. A nice place to spend the afternoon!!
The first thing that you see as you enter in the pool house are the Brazillion Teak floors. These were chosen for the durability and for aesthetic purposes. Teak wears well with moisture, so that there will be no worries when wet feet and bathing suits enter into the building.
The reading area includes two Ethan Allen Portico Arm Chairs made from woven wicker. The cushions are bright yellow and made of uv and moisture resistant fabric. These chairs can also be pulled to go around the dining table to increase seating for extra company. Also in the reading area is a stainless steel freestanding bar made by IKEA. This bar can be used for storage and a mini fridge is located in one of the cabinets, so that there can be snacks and drinks for the children or guests that may be visiting.
The seating area to the left of the entrance includes a bi sectional sofa by All Modern Furniture. This is covered in the green outdoor fabric. The coffee table is a Crate and Barrel design. It is handwoven iron and is oxidzed for a distress finish. This table is perfect for game playing!!
The dining area includes another Crate and Barrel design. It is a Parsons table with a teak table top. The chairs are elegantly fashioned for comfort! Black heavy cotton webbing is used as the seat and back of the chair.
All in all this project was very challenging, but very rewarding as well!! It was a great experience to see the design from the start to finish!!

Very good post! Thanks a lot. windows4life
